Lois Scott is a senior finance executive, entrepreneur, and civic leader. She serves on the boards of FHLBC (Audit Committee Chair, and the Audit Committee Chairs Group for FHLB System), Kroll Bond Rating Agency, Enwave Energy (Audit Committee Chair) and GreenGas USA (Board Chair). She has also served on the boards of the Chicago Stock Exchange (Vice-Chair of the Board, Audit Committee Chair), MBIA (NYSE: MBI), ASC: Sunrise Transportation, and several privately held companies.
Lois’ functional experience includes launching corporate and nonprofit ventures, financial and business controls in corporate and governmental settings, financial planning and strategy, resource generation, budget management, investment management, investor relations, and regulatory compliance in complex settings. She is widely regarded as a high-energy, collaborative partner, creative voice, and mentor to her colleagues. The recipient of numerous awards, she is a frequent speaker on a range of finance and policy issues and has lectured at many colleges and universities, including Yale Law School, University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Pepperdine University.
She is one of the co-founders and managers of The 51 Fund, which invests in independent documentary and feature films by women directors. She executive produced “Shayda,” winner of the Audience Award for World Cinema at Sundance Film Festival in 2023, “Cusp,” winner of a Special Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival in 2021, and numerous other films.
Always civically engaged, Lois presently chairs the Advisory Council for the Milken Institute’s Initiative for Excellence and Equity in Public Finance, and also serves on the Boards of Leadership Greater Chicago, Equable, and the Civic Federation. She is a proud co-founder of Women in Public Finance, the Municipal CFO Forum, and Retirement Security Initiative, among other dynamic initiatives. She was selected as a White House Fellow in 1997/98 and chaired the operating committee of the Export-Import Bank of the United States.
