Jana Barbe

With a sophisticated business acumen grounded in real estate and capital markets, Jana Barbe is a highly effective director of public and private companies and a sought-after advisor to private equity firms. Jana is a member of the Board of Directors of Invitation Homes, Inc. (NYSE: INVH), the nation’s leading provider of single-family rental housing. She is also an Independent Director of The Boler Company, a family enterprise with operations across the globe including Hendrickson International, the leading global manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty truck and trailer suspensions and related components for the worldwide transportation industry.

Jana is perhaps best known though as a foremost authority on affordable housing, and on the low income housing tax credit program, in particular. Over the last thirty years, Jana has been instrumental in the creation and operation of some of the country’s most notable affordable housing portfolios and guided innumerable cutting-edge affordable housing transactions. She currently advises the world’s largest alternative asset management firm and similarly has worked with many top-tier global financial institutions on a wide range of innovative and impactful affordable housing initiatives.

Jana is also an impassioned advocate for women. She is a past Chairperson of the Board of Advisors of Catalyst, Inc., the much acclaimed international women’s advocacy organization, and currently serves on Catalyst’s Advisory Committee for Board Directors.

With her husband, Roy Barbe, Jana is the co-owner and proprietor of Henley Farms, Inc., a boutique thoroughbred breeding business based in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (https://henleyfarmsinc.com/).

Among her other notable roles, Jana is a past Global Vice Chair of Dentons, the largest law firm in the world, where she is now a Retired Partner, and a past Chairman of the Board of Thresholds, Illinois’ oldest and largest nonprofit provider of supportive services and supportive housing to individuals with mental illnesses. Jana remains a Life Director at Thresholds.

Jana is a recipient of Lifetime Achievement honors for the 2019 Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards given by Corporate Counsel and InsideCounsel, Linkage’s 2017 Women in Leadership Executive Impact Award, and in 2022, Dentons’ WomenLead Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award.
