Diane is an architect, landscape architect, planner and urban designer, Vice President of CallisonRTKL and currently based in Hong Kong and Chicago, doing projects of all types and scales in China, Northeast and Southeast Asia, India and Australia.
She was trained at Wellesley College in mathematics and sciences, in the School of Engineering and Department of Architecture at Stanford University in architecture and civil engineering where she received her BA, and at the Princeton School of Architecture in architecture and urban design where she received her M.Arch.
She practiced with Ehrenkrantz in New York City after graduate work, joined SOM Chicago where she became the first woman Partner, became a Fellow of the AIA in 1990, operated her own firm DLK Civic Design in Chicago in 1989, began working in China in 2006, joined RTKL in Shanghai in 2012 and opened the CallisonRTKL office in Hong Kong in 2015.
She is a specialist in eco-smart environments, resilient waterfronts, mobility-oriented development, multimodal transportation systems, and wellness communities.
While based in Chicago, she was the designer of the Boston Globe Billerica Printing Plant, Arlington International Thoroughbred Racecourse, Chicago Wacker Drive and Congress Plaza Historic Reconstructions, Roosevelt Road Bridge, McCormick Place North, Illinois Girl Scouts Headquarters, Illinois Toll Highway Authority Open Road Tolling and Oases, Soldier Field Renovation, and Harold Washington Library EL Station.
While based in Asia, she is the planner and designer of the Vietnam Van Don Special Economic Zone (2,200 square kilometers), Hanoi Red River Resiliency and Urban Regeneration Plan, Jiangmen New Town and Sports Complex, Malaysia High Speed Rail TOD Station Planning, Sydney Central Station Regeneration, West Jakarta New City Master Plan and Development Guidelines, Yangjiang Silver Beach Resort, and currently, Delhi Mall of India Mixed Use Development, UN Habitat East Timor Dili Master Plan, and Seoul Hannam Community Redevelopment Master Plan.
