Christine DeBiase is executive vice president, chief legal officer, general counsel and corporate secretary for The Allstate Corporation. In her role, she oversees Allstate’s law and regulation organization including corporate governance, compliance and litigation management, government affairs, product stewardship, global business conduct, and all environmental, social and corporate governance initiatives for the enterprise. Prior to Allstate, Chris held the position of executive vice president, chief administrative officer, and general counsel, at Brighthouse Financial Inc, where she was responsible for all legal, compliance, corporate governance, sustainability, procurement and third-party risk management. She joined Brighthouse Financial in 2017, after 20 years with MetLife, where she served as lead attorney for the spinoff of Brighthouse Financial from MetLife, as senior vice president, general counsel of Americas Legal. While with MetLife, she held positions as vice president, head of regulatory affairs and associate general counsel and vice president, corporate secretary. Chris is passionate about creating opportunities for women in leadership roles and ensuring inclusive diversity and equity in the workplace, receiving Women’s Venture Fund’s Women & Diversity Expanding Opportunities in Insurance Award – Individual Leader of the Year in 2011. Chris was also inducted into the YWCA Academy of Women Leaders in 2010. Chris earned a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and a bachelor’s degree in communications from State University of New York at New Paltz. She is serving on the US Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform. She also serves as a member of the Board for PowerPlay NYC Inc., and a member of the Foundation Board for the National Junior College Athletic Association. An avid supporter of college athletics, she served as the captain of the varsity soccer and softball teams in college.
