Clare Metcalf

Clare Metcalf leads the Russell Reynolds’ Midwest (Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul) offices and the Financial
Officers Practice for the Americas. She focuses on financial officer assignments across all sectors, working with
both public and private companies. In addition to leading significant CFO searches and succession projects, Clare
works with CFOs to recruit top talent to their teams to fill key positions and build their talent bench. She is also
part of the firm’s Board Practice, recruiting executives with strong financial expertise.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Clare spent thirteen years at a leading global search firm. Her
experience there was primarily focused on conducting financial officer searches, and secondarily on Chief
Strategy Officer searches in the Consumer Sector and beyond. Prior to this, Clare was with Sears, Roebuck and
Co., where she was a Director of eCommerce for sears.com. Her responsibilities included the overall design and
launch of the company’s consumer electronics category website. Prior to this role, Clare served as Director of
Strategy for Sears’ retail operations. She also spent several years as a Management Consultant in the Consumer
Goods Practice of A.T. Kearney Management Consultants. She began her career as a Compensation Consultant
with The Hay Group.
Education
Clare received her Bachelor’s Degree, (Hons), in economics and international relations from the University of
Pennsylvania and her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, where she received the George Hay Award in
marketing.

Clare is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and a trustee of the Goodman Theatre.
