The Chicago Network (TCN) is an organization of professional women in the Chicago metropolitan area who have reached the highest echelons of business, the arts, government, the professions and academia. Chicago Network members make a difference through the thoughtful exercise of leadership, power and influence. TCN was founded in 1979 by a group of the city's leading women who were convinced that an organization of peers could provide a forum to broaden personal relationships and enhance knowledge of issues outside their own sphere. For more than twenty-nine years, that vision has been the foundation of The Chicago Network. Today, the 370 members of TCN come together to share experiences, exchange ideas and support one another in business and civic activities. TCN's mission is to create a forum for friendship, to advance and celebrate our successes, to provide mutual support and counsel for our careers and to raise awareness of professional, political and social issues facing women today. Each year, TCN publishes The Chicago Network Census to document the progress of women business leaders in Chicago's fifty largest public companies, as well as its largest nonprofits.
